Game Reserves

One of the aspects that draws visitors from all over the world is Africa's wildlife. At game reserves it is possible to see wild animals in their natural habitats and watch them run free across the land. Animals that can be seen include elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, hippos, and rhinos. Game Reserves include the Kruger National Park located in South Africa and the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. Other sites include Lepis Magna, where the remains of what was once a Roman civilisation are found in Libya. Tanzania is home to Mount Kilimanjaro, which attracts climbers from all over the world. In Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls will take your breath away.

Africa is located near the Equator and the majority of countries have warm climates with high percentages of sunshine. High temperatures are experienced in many African countries. However, Africa is a huge continent, and the weather is different from country to country.

Africa has many international airports and is easily accessible by air, although fares may be expensive. Several airlines within Africa offer travel from country to country, including South African Airways. When you are in Africa, another popular option is to rent a car. Public transport is available in some areas, but it may not be reliable or in good condition.

Things To Do

Africa has a variety of activities to offer its visitors. Going on safaris through game parks is the perfect way to enjoy the wildlife with an expert guide. There are also many options for climbing and hiking. Mount Kilamanjaro and Mount Kenya offer awesome climbing options. There are amazing diving opportunities, and in South Africa, you can go shark diving. Football is a popular sport in Africa.

African foods is a generalized term collectively referring to the cuisines of Africa. The continent of Africa is the second largest landmass on Earth, and is home to hundreds of different cultural and ethnic groups. This diversity is also reflected in the many local culinary traditions in terms of choice of ingredients, style of preparation and cooking techniques.

Traditionally, the various cuisines of Africa use a combination of locally available fruits, cereal grains and vegetables, as well as milk and meat products. In some parts of the continent, the traditional diet features a preponderance of milk, curd and whey products. In much of Tropical Africa, however, cow's milk is rare and cannot be produced locally (owing to various diseases that affect livestock). Depending on the region, there are also sometimes quite significant differences in the eating and drinking habits and proclivities throughout the continent's many populations: Central Africa, East Africa, the Horn of Africa, North Africa, Southern Africa and West Africa each have their own distinctive dishes, preparation techniques, and consumption mores.

Some of these dishes are: Bobotie (spiced ground meat with an egg topping) in South Africa, Matbucha (tomatoes and roasted bell peppers cooked together, seasoned with garlic and chili pepper) in Morocco, Lablabi (chick peas in a thin garlic and cumin-flavoured soup, served over small pieces of stale crusty bread) in Tunisia, Qatayef (an Arab dessert commonly served during the month of Ramadan, a sort of sweet dumpling filled with cream or nuts; it is usually prepared using Akkawi cheese as a filling) in Egypt, Chakhchoukha (a stew of lamb, spices, tomatoes, and flatbread) in Algeria etc.

Check the political climate before visiting any country, and take note of travel warnings. Beware of pickpockets, and do not carry large sums of money. Check with locals to find out whether it is safe to walk around certain areas.
